What is byteXL Hackathons?
A platform for running hackathons from sign-up to finale. Organizers publish an event, students form teams and choose a challenge, teams submit working products round by round, and everyone sees who advances. It is the home of HacXLerate, byteXL's own hackathon.
Who can host a hackathon?
Colleges and companies. Talk to our team about the event you have in mind and we'll get you set up.
Can we keep an event to our own students?
Yes. An event can be open to everyone or invitation only.
Can a hackathon have more than one round?
Yes. Each round has its own challenge selection and submission deadline, and teams advance round by round all the way to the finale. Organizers can pause selection or submissions in a round if plans change.
How do teams choose what to build?
Organizers publish challenge briefs. The team lead picks one for the team before the selection deadline, while the rest of the team reviews the briefs.
Can we run the same hackathon again?
Yes. Copy any event as a draft, give it a new title, review the dates and publish it.
What do students get out of it?
One workspace for all their hackathons, with the next step shown on each event, and a public profile that lists the hackathons they've joined and how far they got.
Your students could be on that stage next.
