byteXL vLabs · Virtual labs for engineering colleges

Learn engineering by doing.

Interactive lab simulations for every engineering stream, graded on the very experiments students run. Nothing to install, no equipment to share, no lab slot to book.

  • Runs in the browser

Inside every lab

One bench, three ways in

Every lab has the same three tabs. The challenge in the third runs on the model students just explored, so it grades what they can do, not what they remember.

What is byteXL vLabs?

vLabs is a set of interactive lab simulations for engineering colleges. Students run experiments in the browser, read the theory beside them, and take challenges that are graded on the live simulation.

Which streams and labs are available?

Labs are live today in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Biotechnology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and Civil Engineering, from logic gates and op-amps to a turbofan engine, the human heart and a rocket launch. Computer Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy & Materials, Mining Engineering, Physical Sciences and Chemical Sciences are on the way.

Do students need to install anything?

No. Every lab runs in a modern web browser, on campus or at home. The 3D labs use WebGL, which current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox support.

How are students assessed?

Each lab has an Assessment tab with a challenge set on the same live model: reach a target current, produce a bending moment, hold a thrust. Submitting grades the state of the experiment and explains the result.

Can students repeat an experiment?

As often as they like. There is no equipment to wear out and no slot to book, and resetting a lab costs nothing.

How do the labs fit our curriculum?

Labs are organised the way a curriculum is, by stream, then subject, then experiment, and each one states its learning objectives up front.

Can we try a lab before talking to you?

Yes. Open any lab at vlabs.bytexl.ai, no sign-up needed. When you're ready, talk to us about bringing vLabs to your college.
